As an environmental physiologist by training, I have always been fascinated by the way in which the environment influences animals, not simply temperature where my research lay, but also the multiple ways in which the animal perceives its surroundings.
After reading the amazing "An Immense World" by Ed Yong, which I truly cannot recommend highly enough as an incredibly researched, but accessibly and insightfully penned masterclass of scientific writing, I resurrected my dream to find a way to illustrate the differences between animals in a visual manner.
I created this visualisation tool using Claude Code and hope that it achieves the objective of adding another way to visualise aspects of the amazing, and mostly hidden, realms around us.
Disclosure: I get no financial or other benefits from recommending Ed Yong's book, other than the satisfaction of knowing that yet another person will be saying, page after page, "Wow, isn't that incredible".
